This Gigabit Ethernet Bridge allows copper-based Ethernet networks to be coupled via fibre optic connections. The fibre optic connection allows very long distances to be bridged and at the same time provides a connection that is not susceptible to interference and is galvanically decoupled. The integrated 10/100/1000 Mbit/s autonegotiation function on the copper interface enables connection of older networks with low data rates. On the optical side, versions for multimode or monomode fibres are available as well as a variant with SFP slot for which a large selection of different SFPs is available. In addition to standard multimode and monomode SFPs for different distances, C/DWDM and bidirectional simplex SFPs are also available. The link transparency and also the switching mode can be configured via DIP switches. Colour-coded LEDs indicate the current status of the bridge and can be used for fault diagnosis in the network. The RJ-45 connector automatically configures itself to the highest possible transmission speed for 10 Mbps (10Base-T Ethernet), 100 Mbps (100Base-TX Fast Ethernet) or 1 Gbps (1000Base-T). With the integrated auto crossover function, the assignment for the connection to a switch or a computer is also recognised. The use of different RJ-45 connection cables is not necessary. In addition to the version for multimode fibres (1000Base-SX), versions for single-mode fibres (1000Base-LX) and an SFP variant are also available
