The sensor consists of a cylindrical, nickel-plated metal body with M18 thread and 2 flat nuts. Opposite the front face is the cable outlet. On the side is the yellow light-emitting diode, which lights up in the damped state. A high-frequency electromagnetic field is generated in the oscillator and exits at the front surface of the sensor. It forms a spatial area above the active surface, which is called the active switching zone. If an electrically conductive material enters the field, energy is extracted from the oscillator. This dampens the oscillations to such an extent that they stop completely or to a large extent. If the conductive material is removed from the active zone, the oscillator can oscillate again with full amplitude. These two states can be electronically evaluated with the DRIW-E16. The sensor contains as essential assemblies: 1. an oscillator (LC resonant circuit) , 2. rectifier filtering, 3. flip-flop amplifier , 4. output stage
