The D fuse system is a screw fuse system of the first generation. It is still widely used in installations. The D fuse system is used in low-voltage installations where the fuse-links are accessible to and can be replaced by laymen. The D fuse range includes the sizes NDZ, DII, DIII, DIV and DV. D fuse bases with D fuse links of operating class gG are used for the protection of lines and installations. D fuse-links safely switch off impermissible overcurrents and short-circuit currents up to the rated breaking current. They also protect electrical equipment and installations from the electrodynamic effects of high short-circuit currents. DIN VDE 0636-3. The ring-type fuse inserts and the design of the fuses ensure that no larger fuses can be screwed in than is permissible for the line.
