Magnesium anodes, also known as sacrificial anodes or protective anodes, reliably protect drinking water storage tanks against corrosion. This can occur due to defects in the enamelling/coating, installation parts and threaded connections. Buffer tanks in conjunction with untreated heating water can also be protected against corrosion.

The service life of an anode can vary greatly. An annual inspection is recommended. The use of signal anodes or "insulated installation" simplifies the annual inspection considerably. Replacement is necessary if the anode has decreased by 2/3 or the protective current is less than 0.3 mA.
Anodes can be shortened individually!
